Farm Story
This is a family farm. Late in the 1900's, it was managed by my grandfather, then my father, my uncle, and now, me and my brother. My sister and cousin are also going to join us. They are keen on farming as well.
Annual milk production averages
Today the average production is 73 lbs. a day per cow.
Annual average production is 22,500 lbs. per cow.
Herd Management
Since using the Afimilk system, the main difference we have observed at this farm is the huge quantity of data there is. Cow activity, conductivity, and milk production, an incredible amount of data.
We immediately noticed an improvement in the conception rates. That was the first thing... Then the herd's health.
Latent pathologies are detected sooner and all this results in increased milk production. By having so much data available that is concrete and easy to look up, we could establish precise methods and procedures to follow.
Before this had been done without any precision. Having a lot of constant and precise data, day in and day out, twice a day, reflecting past and future, allows us to create protocols to manage the herd in the most efficient way.
Since using the Afimilk system, our profits have increased. The time between birth and conception improved immensely. Fact is that we came in the top 1% nationwide for birth-conception rates, around 108-110 days.
This has resulted in an increase of profits. More calves per year, more milk, less problems.
