We installed the Afimilk system, which includes the AfiFree milk meter and management software, which is called AfiGoat.

I noticed an improvement in the management of the herd. Data can be looked up very quickly. So it's easy to find out if a single goat is under or over the average in milk production. We can choose the best breeders this way because the system tells me which is the best for breeding.

Improvements have especially been seen in regards to a decrease in mastitis. Over-milking used to be an issue, now the automatic shutoff prevents over-milking, which can be very harmful to the goats. Making sure it's the same everyday for each goat, the group, and the whole herd alike. The automatic shutoff optimizes the milking time.

There is total control of ketosis and acidosis because this system makes us aware of everything.

The most valuable aspects are a decrease in time spent milking, better management of each animal, and prompt awareness of sanitary issues especially those related to udder problems.
