The Milk Meter Body
The MPC Milk Meter Body is a plastic container through which the milk flows during milking. It contains sensors for measuring conductivity and flow.
The milk meter body contains three main parts:
-
Upper Cover and Inlet Port - Milk enters the main chamber through the inlet port.
-
Main Chamber - Milk fills the mid-section while the valve is closed (in upper position). This section includes the measuring sensors. Electrodes detect the milk level inside the main chamber and their reading is used as threshold for opening the valve and draining the accumulated milk to the milk line when the chamber is full. The precise amount for measurement is not predetermined. The volume of milk discharged to the milk line in each dump may vary from 200cc–320cc according to flow rate. In addition, electrodes sense milk conductivity.
-
Lower Cover and Outlet Port - Incorporates the body solenoid responsible for operating the milk discharge valve releasing milk to the milk line through the lower cover and outlet port.
