System Fault/Error Alerts

A list of milking unit fault codes are displayed to indicate the type of failure. These alerts may be displayed during or after milking:

The fault indication format is E 01 (# = error number) alternating with Out# (# = number of outputs).

E 02

Milk dump delay

Resistance to milk discharge / the milk is not discharged quickly enough - Alert appears after cluster removal to indicate a possible milk measuring inaccuracy.

Afimilk MPC dumps the portions of milk into the milk line. The MPC body design allows fast discharge of the milk when the valve is opened. Delays in milk discharge may cause measurement inaccuracies alongside delays in removal.

Check the following:

  • The elbow pipe connecting the milk meter outlet port to the milk line is at a downwards slope towards the milk line,

  • The air orifice in the milking claw is open,

  • The valve is moving up and down properly during cleaning mode (if not, the body solenoid may be faulty OR the solenoid diaphragm may be damaged).

E 02F

Milk dump delay

Dramatic discharge problem - the milk meter does not empty, milk overflows through the measuring chamber. Alert appears as soon as the error is detected.

Problem usually occurs from a valve or severe mechanical malfunction.

In such situations, the Afimilk MPC stops measuring; pulsation continues to function.

E 03

Communication fault

Indicates a momentary failure in communication.

Press one of the keys on the control box. If the problem persists, OR if the alert appears again, replace the Afimilk MPC Control Box.

E 04

Software failure

Occurs when software fails.

Can be caused by:

  • Power disruption to the device during the load process,

  • PC process disruption during the load process

  • Communication fault, such as poor communication, or missing a device.

To resolve the issue:

  1. Confirm the causes are eliminated.

  2. Reboot the device by power cycling the device for more than 60 seconds.

  3. Upload the firmware.

Note: Replace the device if these possibilities fail to resolve the issue.

  • Outputs Alert

Indicates a device may be short-circuiting (over-current at an output). Apparatus controlled by the Afimilk MPC and its corresponding fault alerts are listed below.

If an output alert appears, press one of the keys of the control box. If the problem persists OR if the alert appears again, the device needs to be replaced or fixed.
