Check for Faulty Solenoids
Faulty solenoids prevent the milk meters from functioning properly. Before replacing a solenoid, run through the following checks to verify the solenoid needs replacing, or to determine if a different problem exists.
To determine if the solenoid needs replacing
-
Set the MPC Control Box to wash mode, press
.
-
In the milk meter body, confirm the valve rises and falls at 10-second intervals.
-
Detach the vacuum line from its port on the solenoid, and cover the pipe end with your finger to test the presence of the vacuum suction.
-
In the milking point Connection Box, remove the solenoid wires (red and black) and check their resistance using a multimeter.
-
On the milk meter, unclip the bottom clasp, remove the milk meter bottom cover, and confirm the diaphragm is not worn.
-
If these checks did not reveal any issues, remove the old solenoid and replace it with a new one.
-
Reassemble the milk meter, clip the bottom clasp into place, and attach the vacuum and exhaust lines to their ports on the solenoid.
