The physiological condition of any animal is reflected in the components of its body fluids, such as milk in a dairy cow. Using an optic sensor, we can measure milk composition (fat, protein, lactose and blood) for each cow during every milking.
Research published by Kaim et al from Israel’s Volcani Institute of Agricultural Research in June 2011 showed very high efficiency (89.2%) and accuracy (88.5%) of estrus detection with the AfiAct system, even in Israel’s unfavorably hot conditions.
